UNICEF awarded prizes to the schoolchildren most prepared for dangers

On March 24, the finals of the national contest “School of Safety” was held in Minsk on the basis of the Command and Engineering Institute of the Ministry of Emergency Situations within the framework of the Prevention of Child Injury project and with the financial support of the Russian Federation and the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF). UNICEF representatives also acted as a jury and awarded all the finalists with well-deserved prizes for outstanding knowledge of the life safety basics.

Children of three age categories came to participate in the final competition: students of the primary, middle and high school. The contest finals consisted of three rounds. At first, the students had to pass a test of 100 questions with 30 seconds for each. Then the students gave a speech “I will tell you about…” The third round was organized as “My game” TV program. The children chose a question of any complexity from the proposed thematic groups and tried to answer it in 10 seconds.

The winner in the junior age group was Julia Kononkova from the Mahiloŭ region. Marina Prilskaya, also from the Mahiloŭ region, took the leading place among participants in the secondary school. In the older age category, Vladimir Ravinski from Minsk won the first place. All the participants were encouraged by certificates and the winners—by valuable prizes and gifts.

The “School of Safety” contest has been held since 2008 and is organized by the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the Ministry of Education of Belarus and the Belarusian Youth Organization of Rescuers and Firefighters.
